How To Lose Those Holiday Pounds Are your thighs starting to show the tell-tale signs of those extra pieces of holiday fudge? Are your pants starting to fit snug? Don't worry, you're not alone!! On average, Americans gain 3 to 5 pounds over the holidays. Although none of us like to see the scales moving in that direction, it's not that bad as long as you take measures to lose that fat immediately. Unfortunately, most people don't lose it, which tends to add up over the years and then turns into a bigger weight (and health) problem. So, here's a multiple choice question for you: What is the best way to lose those 5 pounds you gained during the month of December? a) go on a crash diet and/or starve yourself for several days b) join a gym and run on the treadmill for about 5 days in a row until your legs start to feel like they're going to fall off - then quit c) get depressed and keep eating junk food because you are too discouraged to do anything about it. d) Begin a sensible nutrition plan consisting of mostly fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and lots of water along with a fitness plan that suits your fitness level, abilities, and schedule. Congratulations! I knew you would get that one right! Remember, true fitness is only achieved through a commitment to your health and fitness plan. It's worth the time to learn how to eat and exercise properly, and then to follow through.
