Black Bean Burger

3 16 oz cans of black beans, rinsed and drained                                                ¼ cup applesauce

1 ½ cups uncooked regular oats                                                                          1 tsp salt

1 medium onion, chopped                                                                                      ¼ cup flour

2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped finely                                                  ¼ cup cornmeal

2 cloves of garlic, minced                                                                                        Canola oil

¾ cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped                                                                                         

 

Directions: 

Coarsely mash beans with a fork.  Combine beans and next 7 ingredients.  Shape into 8 patties.  Stir together flour and cornmeal, and dredge patties in the mixture.  Cook patties in hot oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until each side is lightly browned.  Drain on paper towels.

Serves:  8
